China has built its first unattended seismic monitoring station at the foot of Mount Qomolangma, the world’s highest mountain.

Seismic一词的意思是"地震的，地震性的，地震引起的，易发生地震的"，和它相组合的短语都和地震有关。例如：seismic waves(地震波);seismic focus/origin(震源);seismic zone(地震带);seismic catastrophe(地震灾难)。

地震台中不可缺少的就是地震勘探的工具--地震仪(seismograph)，通过它可以测量地震活动度(seismicity)和地震波速(seismic velocity)。
