翻译时对应的词语有：to、against、on等。

1. 高空火箭的发明创造，对于上层大气的研究具有十分重大的意义。

The invention of the high altitude rocket is of utmost importance～the study of the upper atmosphere. 

2. 对困难和失败不作斗争，你不可能掌握好一种技术。

Without struggle against difficulties and failures，it is impossible for you to master a technique. 

3. 力的作用总是要对材料的变形或多或少有些影响。

The action of forces will more or less have some influence on the deformation of materials. 

 (“对”或“对于”在译成英语介词时，要符合英语的习惯用法，比如，英语中某些名词后用一定的介词，不可随意更改：importance to、an answer to、influence On、a trick On、a war against等的搭配都是固定的。)

英译时对应的词语有：as(so) long as。

1. 只要我们紧密地团结在一起，就一定能克服这些困难。

We can surely overcome these difficulties as long as we are closely united. 

2. 只要推力和阻力相互平衡，飞机就以常速飞行。

SO long as thrust and drag equal each other，the airplane flies at a constant speed. 

(as long as与肋so long as在用法上区别不大，都引导条件状语，常常置于句首，有时也放在句中。)
