在…地方、在…哪里、不管在哪里

翻译时对应的英语词语有：where、wherever等。

1. 水电站应建在水源充沛的地方。

Hydroelectric power stations should be built where there are plentiful water resources. 

(“在…的地方”译成英语表示地点的状语从句，用where引导。)

2. 在物体受热的地方，粒子运动得较快。

At the heated part of a body，the particles move faster. 

(将“在…地方”译作英语的介词短语at the heated part of a body，作句子的状语。)

(三)在…方面、在…时

英译时对应的词语有：in。

1. 在设计发电机时，工程师必须了解有关电磁感应的原理，

In designing generators the engineer must understand the principles concerning electromagnetic induction. 

2. 这台发电机电量大、体积小、耗煤量低。    

The generator is large in capacity，small in size and low in coal consumption. 

 (汉语句子有时不写明“在…方面”，但含有这个意思，如例2，在译成英语时in不可省去。)
