Formosan serow is a kind of wild bovine specific to Taiwan. The species are often active in the early morning and evening. They claim territory so they often stay alone. Most of them live in steep mountains and places where bare rocks have collapsed. They feed on trees and grass such as leaves of fir, hemlock and Sabina chinensis. They can be found in either hills at an altitude of 200 meters or mountains at a high altitude such as the south peak of Yushan Mountain.
