The East China Sea Fleet is one of the fleets belonging to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. It is the pioneer naval force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Its predecessor is the East China Military Navy. It was established in Baimamiao in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province on April 23rd, 1949 (the anniversary of establishment of the People’s Liberation Army’s Navy). Also, on this date, General Zhang Aiping was appointed as the First Commander, as well as the Political Commissar.
