History of Wei of the Northern Dynasties, as the name of biographic history of dynasties and one of the 24 histories, was compiled by the Wei and the Northern Qi and finished in the fifth year of Tianbao (554) with 131 volumes in total; it recorded 164 year period of Northern Wei in the Southern and Northern Dynasties from the first year of Emperor Wudi of Wei (386AD) to the 8th year of Wuding, Emperor Xiaojing of Wei (550AD). It is the most original and relatively complete existing data recording the history of the Northern Wei.
