新常态是指不同以往的、相对稳定的状态，即经过一段不正常状态后重新恢复正常状态。其中，“新”指“有异于旧质”;“常态”指固有的状态。“新常态”一词是“习式热词”之一。**第一次提及“新常态”是在2014年5月考察河南的行程中，他说：“中国发展仍处于重要战略机遇期，我们要增强信心，从当前中国经济发展的阶段性特征出发，适应新常态，保持战略上的平常心态。”贯穿在常态-非常态-新常态中的主线，是事物的本质与规律。新常态是一种趋势性、不可逆的发展状态，意味着中国经济已进入一个与过去三十多年高速增长期不同的新阶段。

China’s New Normal

China’s "New Normal" refers to a different yet stable financial condition that was previously abnormal but has become commonplace. The "New" means "different from the old" while the "Normal" means "an intrinsic status." The "New Normal" was first introduced in May 2014 by President Xi Jinping during his inspection tour in Henan Province. President Xi stated, "China still faces major strategic opportunities for development. We should enhance our confidence to adapt to the new normal and remain calm in strategy that is based on the contemporary characteristics of China’s economic development." The sequence from normal to abnormal to new normal is the essence and the law of the matter. The New Normal is an irreversible developing condition. It means China’s economy has entered a stage that is different from the last three decades of fast growth.
