An annual meeting, if held successfully, can help create a harmonious working environment in the company.
(3) However, other people hold a completely opposite opinion. They regard it as a waste of money to rent the auditorium, to pay for the hostess, to eat in luxurious restaurants and so on. This would contribute to a considerable portion of the financial expense of the company, (4) which, in consequence, would lower the amount of money that the employees can get.
(5) From my point of view, the advantages of the annual meetings outweigh the disadvantages. (6) Firstly, the employees can be refreshed after the whole year of hard work. (6) Secondly, during the whole celebration, the colleagues have chances to get a further understanding of each other. (6) Moreover, a successful annual meeting can help create a sense of belonging in the heart of staff.

(1) Nowadays, it becomes a common phenomenon that many companies organize an annual meeting at the end of the year. (2) People who support this activity say that it can make employees feel relaxed after one year’s hard work. (2) Besides, it can also promote the communication between staff and motivate them to make further progress in the coming year.
(3) However, lots of people think the other way. In their opinion, the annual meeting tends to lack creativity. (4) It usually starts with leaders’ speeches, followed by some workers’ being praised and rewarded for their outstanding performance in the job, then people’s drinking and eating at their will. This fixed model has no attraction to people and fails to evoke people’s passion for the participation because it is so familiar to most people.
(5) In my view, holding an annual meeting is nothing wise. (6) On the one hand, it’s just a waste of money because of the considerable expenses on the food and entertainment which can be used to do many other meaningful things, e.g. offering employees a tour to some famous sceneries. (6) On the other hand, it can not fulfill its purposes in most cases due to the lack of interaction between employees and employers.
