NEW YORK, July 18 (Xinhua) -- The New York Mercantile Exchange Inc (NYMEX) announced Wednesday that it set daily volume record for total futures and options contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Tuesday.

    Total futures and options contracts reached a record 959,721 contracts, surpassing the 952,366 contracts traded on June 8.

    NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME globex electronic trading platform during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006.

    Access to electronic trading of NYMEX energy and metals products is available virtually 24 hours a day on CME globex platform.
