South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) ended their general-level military talks on Thursday without any progress.

"The South (South Korea) seems not to be ready for talks. So to speak, we reached a conclusion that it cannot be a dialogue partner," said DPRK chief negotiator Kim Young-cho after the three-day talks at the truce village of Panmunjom.

Kim's South Korean counterpart Maj. Gen. Jeong Seung-jo told reporters that "It is highly regrettable that we have to wrap up the three-day talks with no concrete results."

According to the South Korean Defense Ministry, the two sides failed to bridge their difference over the disputed maritime border on the Yellow Sea.

During the talks, the DPRK reiterated its demand for a new maritime border to replace the Northern Limit Line (NLL), which was unilaterally drawn by the U.S. military after the 1950-1953 Korean War and has never been recognized by the DPRK side.

South Korea insisted that DPRK's demand can not be accepted during the talks, the ministry said.

The two sides discussed how to prevent sea conflicts, create a joint fishing area, and guarantee the security of bilateral economic cooperation, including the operation of cross-border trains during the talks, the ministry said.

It was the sixth general-level military talks between the two sides.
