NEW YORK, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The Nasdaq stock market set new market performance records, said the largest U.S. electronic exchange on Friday.

Nasdaq's consolidated volume in all U.S. securities was 3.3 billion shares, or 30.4 percent of total U.S. consolidated volume of 10.9 billion shares.

Nasdaq systems processed a record 1.7 billion messages Thursday, a 42 percent increase in total message volume since the previous record set on Feb. 27, 2007.

Wall Street suffered one of its worst losses of 2007 Thursday on worry about the mortgage and corporate lending markets. The DowJones average plunged 311.50 after falling 449.77 in earlier trading, the worst close since Feb. 27 while the Nasdaq composite index tumbled 48.83, or 1.84 percent.
