TOKYO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The euro continued to gain ground against the U.S. dollar Wednesday in Tokyo. The dollar, meanwhile, hovered in the upper 114 yen range.

    At 5 p.m., the euro traded at 1.4126-4129 dollars and 162.40-44yen, compared with Tuesday's 5 p.m. quotes of 1.4133-4143 dollars and 162.24-34 yen in New York, and 1.4073-4076 dollars and 161.45-49 yen in Tokyo.

    The dollar was quoted at 114.94-97 yen at 5 p.m. against Tuesday's 5 p.m. quotes of 114.74-84 yen in New York and 114.70-73yen in Tokyo.

    It traded between 114.54 yen and 115.10 yen during the day, changing hands most frequently at 114.82 yen.
