目的关系

    汉语目的复句中常用的关联词有：以便、为了、其目的、以免、省得。译成英语时可用so that、in order that、so as to、in case、in order not to等词语来表达。

    1. 为了使构件能够自由伸展，钢桥必须分段铺设。

    In order that the members may be allowed to expand freely steel bridges have to be built in sections. 

    (译成英语主从句，将原文表“目的”的分句“为了…伸展”译成英语目的状语从句，用短语in order that引导。)

    2. 他用功读书，以免数学考不及格。

    He worked hard so as not to fail the math exam. 

    (译成英语简单句，将原文表“目的”的分句“以免…不及格”用不定式短语的否定形式so as not to fail…译出。)

    3. 我们计划组织一次讲座，好让学生们对西方国家的金融市场体系有个大概的了解。

    We are planning to organize a lecture，which will provide students with a general understanding“the Western financial market system. 

    (译成英语主从句，将原文“好让…了解”译成用which引导的非限制性定语从句，表示“目的”。)
